About
I’m Ashley Siddiqui, a computer engineer, data-science researcher, and educator who splits her time between high-tech spaces in the United States and low-resource classrooms in Bangladesh. I have seen both sides of the equation: the rooms where models are built, and the rooms where those models quietly decide who gets access, opportunity, and a second chance. This podcast lives in the space between those worlds.
The idea for The Human Algorithm began with a webcam and a shaky internet connection. I was teaching kids in a community center in Bangladesh from thousands of miles away, watching their faces light up as we used the same tools that power global tech companies just to keep a simple lesson going. It hit me that data science, infrastructure, and human curiosity are all part of one system. The algorithms are not just on servers; they show up in classrooms, hospitals, job applications, immigration systems, and everyday life.
This podcast is my way of opening that system up.
